“I want to see indigo now—now!”

Blue Indigo -
Indigo plant extract applied to paper

Oliver Wolf Sacks (1933-1915), a neurologist, naturalist, historian of science, and writer described in his 2012 New Yorker Article, “Personal History Altered States – Self-experiments in chemistry,” his rapturous color revelation of seeing the “huge, trembling, pear-shaped blob of the purest indigo”. This excerpt was previously posted in my coloraday.com site which includes more about his fascination with color phenomena and refers to his film “Island of the Color Blind” – free to watch on youtube:

The film is based on the 1997 book by Oliver Sacks by the same name “Island of the Color Blind” as the film.
The book & film are about achromatopsia (a condition characterized by a partial or total absence of color vision) on the Micronesian atoll of Pingelap.
